A Grandparent's View

View from the Shore

Don’t feel stressed

if your house is a mess,

and you’re not your best,

and the children are whining

and the toilet’s overflowing,

because it’s all par for the course

when you’re a parent!

So take a deep breath

and dive right in.

The waters may be choppy

but you know how to swim.

While I stand on shore (whether near or far)

and watch with pride,

remembering the times (were they so long ago?)

when you were at my side.

  • I am getting a little tired of hearing the complaints about the children and grandchildren coming home and making a mess. Everyone has to be grateful what they have, and having grandchildren is not something anyone should take for granted. yes, it is alot of work, but it's really a blessing. Also, a grandparent can tell others to pick up after themselves, we should not be bashful to ask for what we need.

  • Actually, this entry was addressed to the parent, not the grandparent! The latter is standing on the side, watching and empathizing with the parent who is trying to "do it all."
