A Grandparent's View
View from the Shore
Don’t feel stressed
if your house is a mess,
and you’re not your best,
and the children are whining
and the toilet’s overflowing,
because it’s all par for the course
when you’re a parent!
So take a deep breath
and dive right in.
The waters may be choppy
but you know how to swim.
While I stand on shore (whether near or far)
and watch with pride,
remembering the times (were they so long ago?)
when you were at my side.

I am getting a little tired of hearing the complaints about the children and grandchildren coming home and making a mess. Everyone has to be grateful what they have, and having grandchildren is not something anyone should take for granted. yes, it is alot of work, but it's really a blessing. Also, a grandparent can tell others to pick up after themselves, we should not be bashful to ask for what we need.

Actually, this entry was addressed to the parent, not the grandparent! The latter is standing on the side, watching and empathizing with the parent who is trying to "do it all."
