Making Mistakes

How do we move forward? By allowing ourselves to "try and fail and try again," so the saying goes. But that adage does not motivate one to try; after all, who wants to fail? On the other hand, I truly believe that movement in and of itself, in any direction, is progress -- as long as we are aware of the movement. If we omit the word "fail"(which implies inaction) and focus instead on the action, we will reach our goal. I recall a Little Engine that was able to do that.

The Little Engine is a picture book. In it, the Little Engine climbed to the top of the hill by saying, "I think I can" all the way up and "I thought I could" all the way down. There was a sense of movement throughout, however slow. So, keep moving! You will never know how far you've gone until you are able to look back.
