ADHD is not Outgrown

A mistake that so many parents make is waiting for their child to "outgrow" symptoms of ADHD. Let me state emphatically that Attention Deficit Disorder is not outgrown.

In fact, 60-85% of children with ADHD continue to meet the diagnostic criteria in adolescence. These teens are at risk for school and social failure.

Furthermore, 90% of adults with ADHD display some kind of impairment. Adults with ADHD frequently have problems in their jobs, coping with stress and in relationships with other people.

ADHD is not an illness that dissipates, either by itself or with medication. It is an inborn neurological disorder that can be controlled and compensated for via effective strategies.

When we face down the monster we can turn it into a pussycat.
