A Matter of Focus

"You get what you get, and you say, 'Thank you.'"
That is the refrain taught to children in a preschool in Texas. It's a mantra that we can use in many aspects of life.

It is all too easy to ignore the blessings and to focus on the hardships. My friend remarked that during the holidays we complain about the work and then, after the holidays, we complain when our company leaves and we're left alone!

No one, from young to old, rich to poor, has a life totally free from stress. If it were, as in the example above, we'd complain of ennui!

How we approach life makes all the difference in the quality of living it. When we focus on the HOW versus the WHY, we can learn how to handle the task at hand rather than resent why we have to do it. Instead of complaining about a burden, we can develop emotional muscles to carry it.

Think about your own view of life. It may be time for a new set of lenses.
